LAST MEETING

Sheila Boyington
Thinking Media

The design of useful interactive multimedia was presented. Interactive multimedia consists of PC delivered video, text, hypertext, delivered by video conferencing, computer based training, presentations and information kiosks. Ms Boyington stressed that a company's most important assets are employees and knowledge. Properly designed and delivered interactive multimedia places the right knowledge at right time to the right people. It is a method of communication to provide a more emotional and active response.

A computer based training model on a submersible pump station was shown as an example of the practical use of interactive media. Good design principles demonstrated: 1. Select a project with the highest benefit for the organization. 2. Establish design objectives. 3. Set quality level of materials. 4. Assembly team 5. Determine the appropriate type of media to obtain the established objective and then assemble materials 6. Produce, test, release.
