COMING PROGRAM

UTC's 4.0 Engineering Students

UTC is becoming noted for its "Overachievers"; The MOCs Basketball team roared into the elite "Sweet 16"; UTC may soon have back to back Cum Laude graduates in the College of Engineering and Computer Science. The first is Mr. Otis Farmer and the hopeful second, Mr. Robert Meeks, who will be graduating this Spring. The program will recognize these two young men and explore their background and choice of UTC and motivation.

Program Chair: Pete Rolston

LAST MEETING Mr. Robert Raymond presented the UTC Senior Design Project on High Performance Advanced Technology Electric Vehicle Design Program. This national program encourages Colleges to participate in the design and racing of electrical vehicles. The objective is to encourage research and design of alternative fueled transportation. The benefit to UTC is the building and upgrading of undergraduate laboratories that support the effort. The UTC entry will require a multiyear commitment with financial and technical support from the community. UTC's Dean Greg Sedrick stated that an engineering and science community board would be formed. Among the technical specifications for the race include the need to independently drive each wheel at an average speed of 110 m.p.h. for two hours without battery change. More information can be obtained by calling the College of Engineering and Computer Science at 755-4121.
