LAST MEETING Mr. Steve Clark, Management Systems Operator discussed EPB's Service Restoration during the tornado damage that recently touched down in Tiftonia. 45,000 customers were affected by the tornado and damaging winds that followed. Slides were shown on the extensive damage. EPB responded immediately and within 16 hours 85% of the outage had been restored. Ten additional crews were brought in to assist in the restoration. The mapping surveys (shown at last week's Club meeting) provided planning documents for the well orchestrated work. Forty two hours of non-stop work brought service back to the impacted area. The cost for the restoration by EPB was $800,000. (This is comparable to the $2 million for the 1993 Blizzard). The restoration process has validated and resolved EBP commitment to insulated cable and underground cabling. The Club congratulates the successful planning and implementation of restoration efforts by EPB.
