COMING PROGRAM  Wayne Jones
Chattanooga State Technical Community College

During the late 60's the term electro-mechanical became popular as
mechanical systems were controlled by electrical/electronic systems.  Now
computer hardware and software curriculums have come together at Chattanooga
State.  The Engineering Technology and Computer Science folks have come
together to offer a two-year program in "Networking Technology".  The
contents and outcomes of this program will be dicussed.
Chair: Jim Barrott

LAST MEETING  Mr. Jesse Graham discussed Chattanooga State Technical
Community College's Environmental Protection Technology Program.  He noted
that this was a career program, but that some graduates of the two year
program continue their education.  Four concentrations are offered:
Environmental Protection, Environmental Remediation, Chemical Technology,
and Chemical Process Technology.  He listed the required and elective
courses, and described the equipment available for the students to use.  The
equipment included an array of field sampling instruments, laboratory
instruments, and an outside training facility.  In addition to sampling
exercises, the outside training facility can be used for hazardous materials
response training.  Mr Graham concluded his talk by announcing an Open House
to be held at the training facility April 9, 1998.    (Thanks to Jim
Cunningham for his program summary)
