THIS WEEK  Keith Buckner , of Advanced Vehicle Systems, will present a program on the products of his company, including the new 33 passenger electric bus.

AVS has been the primary provider to CARTA for the current generation of electric shuttles seen every day in the downtown area. The new vehicles will allow the elctric bus technology to be used on routes that require larger vehicles.

LAST WEEK  FIELD TRIP – The outgoing dean (pro tempore) of the Engineering School, Greg Sedrick, gave a tour of the schools labs and facilities with an emphasis on the changes in the last four years, and a brief look at the plans for the future. 

The tour was concentrated on the current and future changes that are taking place in the school to further make the school responsive to the academic and community needs brought about through changes in technology. Modern computers are replacing outdated ones. Labs are being revamped to include modern data acquisition techniques, and so forth.

July13 – Jim Boney from the City of Chattanooga mayor’s office will present a patriotic program.

July 20 – Claude Ramsey, County Executive, will present a program on Hamilton County. This may be an opportunity to ask questions about the current education situation. Then again, it may not!

July 27 – Ron Fugatt, Electric Power Board, will present a program
