THIS WEEK____________________________________________________________
Fred Carr, Assistant Superintendent of Technology and Support Services, Hamilton County Education Department, will visit us to share the technology status of our school system. Members are encouraged to invite participants in a discussion of how engineering community can collaborate with the school system to promote technology, math and science, and careers in engineering.

LAST WEEK____________________________________________________________

Ed Chapin discussed collaboration between CEC, other professional societies, and the community to promote engineering.
With CEC's scholarship fund, there needs to be ideas on using the fund for additional engineering scholarships.
Some of the upcoming opportunities for engineering professions to assert some influence are:
Chattanooga Engineers Week, February 20 -26, 2000. Edward Jones and our local E Week committee are planning activities to involve companies and schools, and will be requesting assistance.
Science and Engineering Fair, week of March 12, 2000. Jack Wagner, our past president is the co-chair this year. Block scheduling and need for teachers to become champions of the Science Fair are stated as reasons for the lack of participation in Hamilton County schools.
Chamber of Commerce Town Meetings. Engineers as a group, either through CEC or CTC, need to be present at economic development discussions.
