LAST WEEK____________________________________________________________
Greg Sedrick and Ed Chapin facilitated a discussion on the state of education in our area. Discussions included the lack of funding for both K -12, and higher education. Tennessee students are not amongst the higher ranking in test scores. We are only ahead of two other states. Members brought up suggestions such as taxes, lottery, foundations, donation, etc. As engineers, we are concerned with the continuing set-up back on the UTC Engineering building. We are certain that Hamilton County cannot attract new industries with our education status. In closing, Dr. Sedrick proposed that we re-instate CEC's education committee to investigate this issue, and come up with action items for the club.

Answer to Brain Teaser ___________________________________________________

Congratulations to Ed Chapin who (with only one hint) solved the Brain Teaser at last weeks meeting. The answer is as follows: Turn the first switch on long enough for the lightbulb to get hot, then turn off the switch. Turn on the second switch and then go upstairs to the lightbulb. If the light is on, it was the second switch. If the light is off and hot, it was the first switch. If the light is off and cold, it was the third switch.
