Richard Edwards, Professor of Management and Chair, Division of Business and
Technology at Dalton State College will present its new four-year
curriculum, such as the management of technology degree, and the industrial
management degree.  Our speaker will also talk more about Dalton State
regarding the progresses that has been made since the increase of state
funding.



LAST WEEK___________________________________________________________________
Jim Johnston and Kenneth Flynn provided details on the current TDOT
(Tennessee Department of Transportation) projects in Chattanooga.
Chattanooga is part of TDOT's Region Two.  Region Two consists of twenty
four counties, stretching from Chattanooga north to Kentucky state line and
from Manchester east to Sweetwater.  There are currently 152 active projects
in Region Two.  The estimated cost of the active projects is
$310,166,477.67.  The most expensive projects in Region Two is the widening
and improvement of Interstate 75 and the state route 153 interchange.  The
estimated cost of this project is $35,853,919.56.
TDOT's engineering design group is located in Nashville.  Region Two does
have its headquarter here in Chattanooga.
The planned completion date for the I-75/Highway 153 interchange project is
December 2000.  Contractors were given the customary early completion
incentive provision, as well as late completion penalties.
One of the cause for the high project cost is having to provide access to
the interchange through out the construction.
Mr. Johnston and Mr. Flynn also informed the members of the upcoming project
on Highway 153.  The highway will be widened from the interchange to the
Dam.
