LAST WEEK________________________________________________________________
Josh Gage of Freeliant.Com introduced the services provided by the new
company. Freeliant.com is a Chattanooga-based Application Service Providers
(APS). Besides being an APS, Freeliant.com also provides other network
services, such as Network Consultation, Application Hosting, Advanced Web
Hosting, Network Maintenance, Network Integration, and Network Co-Location.
Most companies today have their office PCs networked to one another and to a
network server. But the cost associated with installing a network server,
operating system and peripherals is only the tip of the iceberg. The major
cost of owning a network is the preventive and reactionary maintenance, and
the people it takes to keep the network running efficiently. An APS offers to
alleviate the problems associated with trying to keep up with computer
networks. It does so by taking most of its functions outside the office
environment and placing it in a centralized location. From there, efficient
and reliable computers take over the job of storing data, providing
application software, data backup, virus checks and a host of functions that
would normally have to be performed by equipment and people in the office.
The administration and maintenance of the network are provided by a team of
specialist that are available around the clock.
Mr. Gage said that while the concept of centralized processing and network
service is not new, the idea of applying it to the smaller office environment
has become practical only on recent years. Due to the decrease in cost of
high-speed "telephone" connections, smaller operations can now afford to
place a server far away from the work place. Thus, by engaging the services
of a network service provider, a small company can gain the freedom from the
high cost of owning your own network server, from network failures, from
hardware and software upgrades and from the shortage of skilled technical
personnel. More information about Freeliant.com and its services can be found
at their web site: www.freeliant.com
