Next Meeting  _______________________________________________________
Monday, January 8, 12:00 noon  - Our First meeting of 2001
Cellar Restaurant at Union Square
Downtown, Chattanooga

Topic: "What is RiverCity up to theses days ?"

RiverCity is a not-for-profit development company that was established to help revitalize the downtown Chattanooga area. Ken Hays, president of the company, will review the projects that are planned and underway to continue to make the downtown area the best it can be. Specifically, he will describe RiverCity's three major efforts:
1. Expansion of downtown housing,
2. Revival of the downtown central business district,
3. Continuing the momentum of North Shore and Ross' Landing Area (Re-looking at the riverfront area to make it more pedestrian friendly and to provide convenient and safe access to the river).

Prior to accepting the post of president of the RiverCity Company about a year ago, Ken served as Mayor Kinsey's Chief of Staff.

Past Meetings_________________________________________
December 4
Mr. Ed Chapin provided a brief history of the Internet. Facts and figures presented showed the growth in activities in the last fifteen years. Mr. Chapin also spoke on the web presence of the engineering community in Chattanooga. The CTC listserv has been in place for two years. Thanks to the generosity of Chattanooga On Line, many of the Chattanooga engineering societies were able to set up web pages. Communications amongst clubs and within clubs were improved. But the lack of resource has limited the further development of the various web pages. Mr. Chapin is working with Chattanooga On Line on a new community project. Chattanooga.Community is a new community site that will provide links to web sites and web pages in our community. Defined as a community without boundary, the links can be established to connect to any organization that serves or support our area. The project is still at its infancy, but one of the first link will be to our engineering community, www.chattanooga.net/enginner.

December 11
