NEXT MEETING_________________________________________________________

Monday, March19, 12:00 noon

Cellar Restaurant at Union Square - Downtown, Chattanooga

Topic: "Electric Vehicles - Concept or Reality?"

- by Kenneth Cox, Research Engineer, Electric Transit Vehicle Institute (ETVI)

Are electric-powered vehicles ready to hit the road or do they still have a long ways to go? Do they have any power, can they go any distance, are they any cheaper to run, and how do you recharge these things, anyway? Kenneth Cox, Research Engineer of the Electric Transit Vehicle Institute (ETVI) will answer these and many other questions about electric and electric/hybrid vehicles. In fact, he will even provide us an opportunity to test drive one of the company’s vehicles. Ken says that the current state of technology for electric vehicle may surprise you.

ETVI is a non-profit organization established to promote the development and use of electric vehicles. You can fine more information about the company at: www.etvi.org

AT OUR LAST MEETING _______________________________________________

Monday, March 12

Ellen Lail, Cisco Systems regional account manager, provided us an overview of the Cisco Network Academy Program and described what this program would mean to students in the Chattanooga area. She said that its curriculum is offered at high schools, technical schools, colleges and universities (as continuing education courses) throughout the country. The Program is a comprehensive 8-semester/560-hour course that trains students to design, build and maintain computer networks. Students are also prepared for industry standard certifications including the Cisco Certified Network Associate. Such certifications have allowed students to find readily available and well paying jobs.

More information on the program can be found at this site: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/779/edu/academy/
