Monday, August 20 , noon.

TOPIC: Water for People - Jeff Rose, Director of Water Quality Control for the city of Maryville, Tenn.

Jeff Rose, current Chairman of the Water for People committee of AWWA, will provide us an overview of the organization's activities, with special focus on their current project in Guatemala. Here the organization is assisting local communities to develop sources of safe drinking water, develop adequate sanitation systems, and providing education about good health and hygiene practices.

She sited examples of the huge amount of paperwork involved in various studies and the intricate and complicated methods required to keep track of all the documents. She said while assessments continue, federal funding to support them is diminishing and the ultimate disposition of the site remains uncertain.
