Engineering managers are faced with the daunting task of inventing on a schedule. Bob Pap will share some of the tricks and techniques for motivating engineers and keeping fresh idea’s flowing. Bob has also placed an emphasis on community service, encouraging his employees to teach at UTC, find out why. Come and hear how to get the most bang for your employee salary dollar by encouraging personal growth and innovative thinking. (IF your boss needs enlightenment encourage him to attend and see how successful technical companies in Chattanooga are managing their engineers.)

Dr. Barry Berven Associate Director of Life Sciences Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory spoke about genetic and biomedical research (specifically mice.) Dr. Bervin says that many of the recent advances in molecular biology have practical applications such as identification of genetic disease, cloning, and designing genetically modified food. At Oak Ridge scientists have induced several different mutations into a well studied strain of mice, by altering specific genes: obese mice, Alzheimer’s mice and hyper active mice have already been produced.

WHERE WE USUALLY MEET ______________________________________

All of our presentation meetings are held at the Cellar Restaurant of the Tallan Building, Union Square, Downtown, Chattanooga from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. Our meeting room and luncheon service are open by 11:30 a.m. Lunch buffet is available for $10 per person. No reservation is required. Free parking is available for these occasions at the Days Inn Motel (on Carter St. and MLK Blvd), courtesy of the Days Inn management. When you park there, be sure to place a note on you dashboard indicating you are attending the engineers club meeting.
