NEXT MEETING ____________________________________________
Monday, April 8- 12:00 noon
The Clarion Hotel

Topic: Improved Student Learning - Glenda Russel
The program will be presented by Glenda Russel, a teacher with 30 years of experience in the Tennessee public school system. Ms. Russel has developed a system to understand student test scores, design suitable curriculum, improve instruction skills, and achieve higher learning in the classroom. PAMS, Personalized Assessment Management System, has helped improve student learning in many Tennessee school systems. By tracking student objectives weekly, teachers will be able to pinpoint specific skills that need to be enhanced/re-taught before the weakness becomes detrimental to future learning. PAMS also allows the teacher to self-evaluate the effectiveness of his or her own teaching strategies. Ms. Russel is a former math teacher, but her program addresses all curriculums.

Please email stevemcguire@comcast.net that you plan to attend so we can manage reservations. Limited free parking is available at the Republic lot next to the YMCA and behind the old IBM building. When you arrive there ask the attendant to give you a ticket for the parking area reserved for Chattanooga State students.

OUR PREVIOUS MEETING April 1 ________________________________
Topic: UTC Senior Design Project Presentation - Team 1 & 2
The first team, Daniel Linz and Fred Carder, are improving a tube/pipe swagger machine at the Alstrom Power  for making water wall panels. Parts required to maintain the current machine are becoming obsolete; they are old, labor intensive, and expensive to maintain. Team is modernizing air motor and improving spindleto allow the use of replacable carbide inserts .

Team two, Cliff Murphy and Sam Perry, worked with Card and Monroe (CMC) the students were challenged with replacing a tedious method of preparing the needle rods used in the tufting process. Current technology is a job shop type layout with little hard automation or fixture flexibility for various styles of carpet. Team designed machine and documented for possible future construction.
