NEXT MEETING_____________________________________
Monday, June 24 - 12:00 noon
Cellar Restaurant at Union Square

Topic: Underground Power Distribution Automation - Gilbert Davis, EPB

When an overhead power distribution system experiences a fault or break in the line, the problem is relatively easy to locate and remedy. But it becomes a nightmare to do so when the distribution system is underground as it is in downtown Chattanooga and other urban areas. A new control system has recently been put into place by the EPB (Electric Power Board) which senses the fault, automatically isolates it, opens and closes the proper switches to reconfigure the circuit and restores power to the affected are. Gilbert Davis of the EPB will explain how this high tech control system works and how it will improve the reliability of power delivery to the area. The system will be commissioned for service at the end of July.

Gilbert is Senior Engineer in the Planning Department of the EPB where he is responsible for power distribution protection.

Invocation: Tom Pearce
Fellowship: Jack Anderson
Entrée du jour: Chopped Sirloin and Grilled Onions
