NEXT MEETING:______________________________________________
Monday, January 6 - noon
Cellar Restaurant, Downtown

Topic: Rocket Science  - The Past and Exiting Future of Space Propulsion -
Brad Carlson, NASA
Rockets have always been fascinating because they conjure such imaginative
thoughts of adventure and space travel. Fortunately, rockets have evolved to
become real workhorses and have already woven much of our imagination into
reality. Brad Carlson, Advanced Propulsion Systems Engineer at NASA's
Marshal Space Flight Center, will provide us a historical and current
perspective of rocket boosters, from those that launched the first American
astronaut into space to those monster boosters that helped launch the Apollo
astronauts to the moon. He will also describe rockets based combined cycle
boosters being considered for future reusable launch vehicles and explain
their advantages and limitations. Bradley is currently involved with the
development of the advanced propulsion systems for NASA's third generation
Reusable Launch Vehicles. He says that these vehicles will not only make it
less expensive to place payloads into earth orbit but they will also make it
more practical for us send astronauts to Mars and to explore other new
worlds.

OUR PREVIOUS EVENT _________________________________________
A joyous multitude of members from the Engineers Club and other technical
societies gathered at the Clarion Hotel on Friday, December 13 for a
