NEXT Meeting (The Read House)_____________________________________________

Monday, August 30, 2004

Topic:  Oak Ridge National Laboratory Summer Tour

The field trip to Oak Ridge National Lab will be this Monday.  For those who have signed up, we will meet at the Days Inn Rivergate parking lot (across the corner from the Read House) in downtown Chattanooga and parking will be free for the day.  We will meet at 9:00 am EST, buy our own lunch in the ORNL cafeteria, and head back to Chattanooga from Oak Ridge around 2 or 3 o’clock.  The tour plan is to visit the supercomputer center, the Spallation Neutron Source site, the hybrid lighting area, and if possible, the High Temperature Materials Laboratory and possibly get a presentation on fuel cells.  Transportation will be in a large van and participants will be asked to contribute a nominal fee to offset the van rental fee.  This will allow us to avoid using funds that we can otherwise donate for scholarships.  We are at capacity for the van but if anyone else would like to sign up, please contact Tiffany Gibby at 423.751.3168 (day) or 423.326.3185 (eve) for more information.
