Topic:  “DARPA Grand Challenge Project:  The Road to the Grand Challenge” - Abe Mishler, UTC Graduate Student

DARPA is the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.  Created in response to a Congressional and DoD mandate, the DARPA Grand Challenge is a field test intended to accelerate research and development in autonomous ground vehicles that will help save American lives on the battlefield.  The Grand Challenge brings together individuals and organizations from industry, the R&D community, government, the armed services, academia, students, backyard inventors, and automotive enthusiasts in the pursuit of a technological challenge.  We will welcome Abe Mishler to discuss what the Grand Challenge is, why it’s so important, and what it takes to make it to the Grand Challenge.  Mr. Mishler and Team UTC are still in the early stages of planning, development, and support raising but they have some accomplishments to their credit including a diverse team composition – they have people from many different backgrounds with interests in many applicable areas.  Mr. Mishler will share team goals and projected milestones.
