CHATTANOOGA ENGINEERS
CLUB
NEXT MEETING (The Read
House)_____________________________________________
Monday, January 3, 2005 - noon, The Read
House, Continental Room
Topic: “Northwest Georgia Regional Waste
Water Treatment” - Terry Reynolds, ARCADIS
A large portion of the north Georgia counties of Catoosa,
Dade and Walker drain into the Tennessee River at Chattanooga. The effect
of this drainage and the necessary measures to handle it were evaluated in a
mid-1970's US EPA report "Chattanooga, Tennessee-Georgia Wastewater Facilities
Study". The Georgia portion of this study was recently updated to show how the
plans from the mid-1970's were implemented. Terry Reynolds, program manager at
ARCADIS, the Engineering Firm involved in the study, will describe the
drainage and the results of the study. He will explain how actual
development trends differed from those earlier assumptions and describe future
needs using the latest data and projections in the new 20-year planning
horizon. The study
provides the basis for the creation of a regional wastewater treatment alliance
and for state and federal funding of wastewater facilities for years to come.

call Ron Burton at 886-4693 to volunteer to lead an invocation/pledge or to be
chairman for a month in 2005)

OUR PREVIOUS
MEETING________________________________________________
Topic: Chattanooga Engineers Club Business
Meeting
MEMBERS: Members were challenged to each bring in 2 new club members
in 2005. A roster of members hasn't been printed since 1998 and the
members would like a printed version in 2005. We occasionally receive
resumes from engineering students as they search for a job. There was
discussion of the CEC hosting an online Tech Job Clearinghouse, but no definite
plans were made.
MEETINGS: A new wireless microphone will be purchased if the existing
one cannot be fixed. A new projector with a service contract will be
purchased by January 3.
ENGINEERS WEEK: Tiffany plans to explore the Engineers Week web site
and help Amber Thorton, this year's chair, to update it with all the activities
planned for that week.
SCIENCE FAIR: Jack Wagner gave an update on the Science Fair that
will be March 7-10 in the Racquet Center at UTC. We would like more
involvement from the medical community in the Science Fairs.
