April 4:  "Comparison of Traditional and Distance Education Delivery Outcomes for an Engineering Statics Course” (12:10 to 1:20 pm at UTC University Center, Chattanooga Room)

This will be a joint meeting with the American Society of Engineering Educators (ASEE) Southeast Section Conference (www.cee.citadel.edu/asee-se).  During lunch we will hear an ASEE award winning paper "Comparison of Traditional and Distance Education Delivery Outcomes for an Engineering Statics Course” by  Kurt Gramoll, Wes Hines and Mary Kocak.  Club members and visitors not registered for the conference lunch should call by March 31, for a lunch reservation ($12) with Tiffany Gibby, 423-751-3168.  Members can attend the presentation without eating lunch.  The presentation will be held in the Chattanooga Room of the UTC Student Center.

March 28:  "Robotics’ Role in the Military" - Don Jones, Mesa Robotics, Inc., Madison, AL
 
Don Jones with Mesa Robotics Inc. in Madison, Ala., discussed the role of ground-based robots in the military.  Jones said their use has grown from a few experimental projects to everyday use by the U.S. ground forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.  The robots can perform many dangerous tasks and save lives.  The uses of robotic vehicles made by Mesa Robotics include reconnaissance, surveillance, explosive-ordnance disposal, material transport, and remote-sensing of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear materials.

WHERE WE MEET _________________________________________________________

 

We will usually meet at Tallan Cellar Restaurant in the basement of the Tallan Building at the corner of M. L. King Blvd. and Carter Street.  Lunch at the Cellar Restaurant is a hot buffet for $10 and the meal is available at 11:30 a.m.  Parking is available free at the Days Inn across Carter Street, but you will need a note in your windshield that you’re attending the Chattanooga Engineers Club meeting.
