MEETING_____________________________________
November 28, 2005 "Gifts to Save
Lives" Vic Humm, Safety Technology International, Inc.
Vic
Humm spoke about the different kinds of smoke alarms, carbon monoxide sensors,
and new products he expects to be available next
year.
He gave us all an aerosol test gas (Smoke Detector
Tester) that can be purchased from www.testproducts.com (click on Fire and
Smoke Detectors and scroll-down). Individuals can order from this site.
This is a safer way to test smoke detectors than using something that is
actually burning.
He showed us a plug-in Multi-Hazard Alarm that
can detect carbon monoxide. He couldn't find anything similar at Home
Depot but found them available at Grainger’s at 902 Creekside Rd on Amnicola Hwy
(first stop light toward town from CB Robinson Bridge). Their phone is 698-8525
and they only sell to businesses, companies, or contractors. However if a
person’s employer has an account, they will sell over the counter to the
employee on a cash or credit card basis. The Stock Item Number is 1RK40
and the price is $62.75 plus tax. If a member’s company does not have an
account, Vic Humm said he will make arrangements to allow the use of his account
on a cash purchase or credit card basis.
