PREVIOUS MEETING
MONDAY, March 13 - "Why We Have Been Duped in Our Search for
Perfection" -With tongue firmly in cheek, the Rev. Cliff Hudson spoke
eloquently on the beauty, grace, and warmth of thermionic
valve technology, and the harsh, unforgiving, unloving, unimaginative
characteristics of solid state components, and why they are doomed to fail us
all. He displayed a variety of globe covered diodes and triodes, including those
used to broadcast the mellow voices of many local radio announcers over the
past 50 years. Cliff owns around 3 to 4 thousand tubes and favors their warmth
and imperfections to cold, sterile chips.
