NEXT MEETING July 17, 2006  "Two North Shore" Terry W. Barker, Riverstreet Architecture

This 6.5 acre mixed use development on the rapidly developing north shore has been designed to conceptually bridge the architecture of the old manufacturing warehouses with today’s modern technologies. Using green design strategies, this project offers an environment that fosters a sense of community for the surrounding neighborhood while setting the pace for future development in the north shore. Plans to obtain LEED-CS certification are currently underway; the first of it's kind in Chattanooga.

Location:  The Tallan Cellar, basement of Regions Bank building at 200 West Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd Chattanooga, TN 37402

Parking:  Parking is available on the 10th street side of the building, or you may park at the Days Inn Hotel across Carter Street (leave a dashboard note saying “Chatta. Engrs. Club”).

Lunch will be available beginning at 11:30 am and will be buffet style including pot roast with potatoes and carrots, broccoli casserole and pineapple casserole, salad, roll, a drink, and cake for $11.

The Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) program was described.  It is currently in-place in approximately 40 states and recently adopted by the Tennessee Department of Transportation.  The Signal Mountain Road project (the 2nd CEI project in the State) was described along with some of the traffic, regulatory and public/private interest issues that helped steer the critical path of construction.

Several members and guests viewed the movie "An Inconvenient Truth", starring Al Gore and his traveling road show about Global Warming. It was worthwile and a good time.
