NEXT MEETING August 7, 2006 “Anti-Submarine Warfare Comes To Chattanooga” Keith Buckner, Tennessee Operations Manager for Adaptive Methods Inc.
Adaptive Methods develops advanced sensor processing and computing architecture products for surveillance, security, and military combat systems, primarily for the US Navy. Mr. Buckner will present an overview of Adaptive Methods, a high-tech company that is expanding it’s footprint in Chattanooga. Staffing will be increased from 5 to 15 to meet current Navy program initiatives. The firm is continuing to explore relationships with UTC’s SimCenter to do advanced computational simulations related to air, land, sea, and space programs. Mr Buckner will also discuss developing new technology and new engineering job opportunities in the Tennessee Valley.
Location: The Tallan Cellar, basement of Regions Bank/Krystal building at 200 West Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd Chattanooga, TN 37402
Parking: Parking is available on the 10th street side of the building, or you may park at the Days Inn Hotel across Carter Street (leave a dashboard note saying “Chatta. Engrs. Club”).
Lunch will be available for $11 beginning at 11:30 am and will be buffet style including a salad, chicken fingers, broccoli casserole, navy beans, a roll and bread pudding.

July 31, 2006 “Communication and Independence with Assistive Technology” Molly Littleton and Steve Powell, Signal Centers
Molly and Steve demonstrated switches, computer aids, and ergonomic features to assist people with disablilities with communication, computer, and appliance use. These devices are increasingly used to help the handicapped communicate and live independent lives. The Signal Centers’ Assistive Technology (AT) Center is one of the Tennessee Technology Access Project (TTAP) Resource Centers and one of the Alliance for Technology Access (ATA) Resource Centers.
