NEXT MEETING - September 25, 2006

"Can Blogging Help Your Business?"  Bhushan Karle, US Xpress

Mr. Karle will give us some insight into what Businesses are discovering about the practice of “blogging.”   Several companies are taking a closer look at new ways of communicating that have blossomed in the past decade.  Exactly what is a Blog? --  A blog (weB LOG) is a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is "blogging" and someone who keeps a blog is a "blogger." Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog. How can this help engineers? Come to the meeting and find out.

Location:  The Tallan Cellar Restaurant, basement of Regions Bank at 200 West Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd Chattanooga, TN 37402.

Parking:  Parking is available on the 10th street side of the building, or you may park at the Days Inn Hotel across Carter Street (leave a dashboard note saying “Chatta. Engrs. Club”).

Lunch will be available for $11 beginning at 11:30 am and will be buffet style including meatloaf, mashed potatos, and green beans with banana pudding for dessert.

PREVIOUS MEETING Sept 18 - "MiniBaja Team - A UTC Senior Engineering Design Report" Dr. Ron Goulet

The Mini Baja Midwest is a multi-faceted competition to design, construct, and race a small off-road vehicle. The goal is to simulate college engineering teams with real-world engineering design projects and their related challenges. Students not only must function as a team to design, build, test, promote and race a vehicle, but they also must generate financial support for the project and manage their educational priorities. The UTC team placed 19th out of about 140 schools. The students who participate are gaining experience that they can take to an employer and be of instant benefit.
