NEXT MEETING March 19, 2007 – "Why your next bus ride may smell like French fries"

 

Rob Del Bueno of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy will describe the process developed by his company to convert used cooking oil into fuel for mass transit.  He will describe the role that this environmentaly friendly technology plays at Emory University as part of their "Green Campus" strategy.

 

Lunch will be available for $11 beginning at 11:30 am and will be buffet style including salad, chopped steak, grilled vegs, baked potato,  peach cobbler, roll, and drink.

 

Location: Tallan Cellar Restaurant, 200 West ML King Blvd, Chattanooga, TN 37402.

Parking: You may park at the Days Inn Hotel across Carter Street (leave a dashboard note saying “Cha. Engrs. Club”). Parking is also available at the Tallan building or Public Library.

 

Professional Development units (PDUs) are available for most technical programs at CEC meetings.

At our March 12, 2007 program, Wayne Huddleston, Project Manager with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers described the construction of the new lock at the Chickamauga Dam on the Tennessee River. He discussed key design features of the new lock and pointed out some of the challenges of building a new lock while continuing to maintain and operate the existing lock.

The 53rd Annual Chattanooga Regional Science & Engineering Fair will be open to the public March 14-15 from 9 am to 5pm at the Harrison Racquet Center, UTC Campus, Chattanooga. The awards ceremony is Mar 15 at 6pm at the UTC Fine Arts Center.

 

THE CHATTANOOGA INTERNATIONAL SUMMIT, Chattanooga, Tennessee, Friday, March 30, 2007, 8:30-12:15. Keynote Speaker: Ambassador Marshall McCallie. Speaking Opportunities! Volunteers needed to address speaker requests from elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and youth groups to visit classrooms, assemblies, and group meetings. High school student groups may schedule tours of CSTCC to visit mechanical, electrical, civil, chemical technology classes and other locations of the campus.
