FIELD TRIP - Next Meeting – Monday, June 18 – Meet at Siskin Children’s Institute, 1101 Carter Street, Chattanooga, TN. NOT THE CELLAR.

Demonstration of Passive Solar Lighting - John Morris, President & CEO of Sunlight Direct will provide a presentation and demonstration of a fully integrated and reliable natural lighting system in the training room on the second floor of the Siskin Children’s Institute at 1101 Carter Street. Sunlight Direct, Inc was formed in Oak Ridge, TN, in 2004 to commercialize a patented platform technology from Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) named Hybrid Solar Lighting (HSL). HSL distributes natural light within the interior of buildings and is fully integrated into the existing artificial lighting system. Thus, HSL delivers the benefits of natural lighting with the convenience and reliability of an artificial lighting system. Independent studies show that natural light increases retail sales, reduces energy consumption, and improves employee productivity, retention and wellness. John Morris, President & CEO of Sunlight Direct is an entrepreneur who has been working with technology businesses for 25 years. With degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Mr. Morris has been instrumental in the formation of five technology commercialization ventures, utilizing technology from five different disciplines. Most recently, Mr. Morris was the Founder and CEO of NetLearning, Inc., an Internet-based e-Learning company focused on the healthcare market, which company was acquired by Thomson.

Box lunches prepared and catered by the Cellar Restaurant will be available at the Institute, beginning at 11:30.

Professional Development units (PDUs) are available for most technical programs at CEC meetings.
