Meeting July 23 - "Hey, TVA! What about the Drought?"
Gene
Gibson, TVA's Manager of Water Supply, will provide an overview of the current
drought gripping the southeast and portions of the Tennessee Valley
region. He will explain the drought's ongoing impacts to TVA's integrated
river system operations and the 4 million people that depend on the Tennessee
River System as their source of water supply. He will outline actions
being taken by TVA to conserve water while at the same time minimizing impacts
to water supply, water quality, navigation, and recreation. Join us for an
informed discussion with a TVA leader on these important issues.
Lunch
will be available for $11 beginning at 11:30 am, and will be from the
outstanding Cellar Buffet. Location: Tallan Cellar Restaurant, 200 West ML King

Chickamauga Dam, where skilled technicians utilize a wide variety of chemical
and physical testing equipment to support the electric power generation system.

- Dr. Marilyn Brown, Professor of Public Policy at Georgia Tech spoke on the
need for a national policy for renewable energy. Her views are based on the
patchwork of existing state standards and the need to coordinate green energy
credits. The federal government can and should encourage energy savings through
more efficient use of electricity. Her latest book is "Energy and American

conservation leadership and is committed to reducing its energy usage in
existing facilities through retrofits, building management systems and controls
and in new construction through energy conservation techniques. To meet future
energy challenges, CEI has a need for several engineering managers, with
responsibilities for engineering design projects, business continuity and
alternate energy projects. The positions require degreed engineers, preferably
electrical, mechanical, or industrial and at least eight to ten years of
progressive engineering experience. Experience should include some of the
following: electrical or mechanical design, energy management, energy systems
engineering or energy transmission related experience. CEM, CLEP, or PE
certification preferred. The successful candidates must be able to lead through
influence with a consultative demeanor in a highly decentralized environment;
have the ability to lead cross functional teams; and successfully manage
interdisciplinary efforts to assure the success of the projects.

Opportunities! Volunteers needed to address speaker requests from elementary
schools, middle schools, high schools, and youth groups to visit classrooms, assemblies,
and group meetings. High school student groups may schedule tours of CSTCC to
visit mechanical, electrical, civil, chemical technology classes and other
