LAST WEEKS FIELD TRIP TO ASTEC
Dr.
Don Brock, CEO of Astec Industries, spoke to the club
on the company’s efforts to manufacture environmentally and economically
efficient equipment, such as it’s recycled-asphalt mixers. The latest
innovation is Astec’s patented Double-Barrel Green System. The
“warm-asphalt” paving system allows asphalt to be mixed at a lower
temperature, reducing oil smoke and increasing production and quality. The
system uses less fuel and adds no extra cost. Dr. Brock said Mayor Littlefield’s
cooperation was appreciated, and he is excited about the demonstration pavement
on North Terrace Road.

Mentors Needed!!! The Alumni Career Mentoring Program is a great way for UTC students to get in touch with other UTC
graduates who can provide information or direction about career choices. The

career experiences and advice with students and other alumni. These individuals
have diverse academic backgrounds and represent many industries, career fields,
job functions and locations. The UTC Alumni Career
Mentor Program is sponsored by the Placement and Student Employment Center. The
time commitment is minimal and is a much appreciated way for you as an alum to
