Dr. Don Brock, CEO of Astec Industries, spoke to the club on the company’s efforts to manufacture environmentally and economically efficient equipment, such as it’s recycled-asphalt mixers. The latest innovation is Astec’s patented Double-Barrel Green System. The “warm-asphalt” paving system allows asphalt to be mixed at a lower temperature, reducing oil smoke and increasing production and quality. The system uses less fuel and adds no extra cost. Dr. Brock said Mayor Littlefield’s cooperation was appreciated, and he is excited about the demonstration pavement on North Terrace Road.
