Saturday,
November 17, (TOMORROW) YOU (The Chattanooga Engineers Club) are
hosting the First Lego League competition, 9am – 12 noon at the UT
SimCenter at Chattanooga, 701 E. M.L. King Blvd., Chattanooga, TN 37403,
(423)425-5497. About 10 teams in the area, 60 teams in
Tennessee and over 5000 throughout the country participate. Middle school
students (and two local elementary schools this year) will compete in teams to
build a robot to complete tasks and to research the theme. This year's theme is
Power Puzzle, related to the many forms and uses of energy. At least six local
teams will be at the Sim Center for the local competition. The competition is
fast-paced and relates to an important subject, encouraging technology
education. As a CEC member You are expected to attend. For background and

Shore confirmed to explain and describe CARTA's plans for deployment
in Chattanooga
LAST MEETING
- November 5 - Bob Hay spoke on the physical and chemical
properties of Hydrogen, and related some of the necessary design considerations
for planning a hydrogen-fueled vehicle filling station. The
options include compressed gas and cryogenic (liquid) storage
and delivery systems. Both types have engineering and consumer implications.
Fuel cells and internal combustion options for vehicles are being tested, but
all H2 powered vehicles will need safe, convenient refueling
stations. UTC is considering installing one of the first
refueling stations for a proposed hydrogen powered shuttle bus on the campus
of UTC.
