January 28, 2008 – “Hybrid Electric Powertrain Technology”. Dean McGrew, Vice President of Business Development for Azure Dynamics, will discuss Azure's alternative transportation solutions, with a focus on the company's hybrid electric powertrain technology for medium-duty commercial vehicles. Dean holds a M.S. cum laude in Mechanical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, and a B.S. cum laude in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University.
Lunch is available on meeting dates for $11 beginning at 11:30 am from the outstanding Cellar Buffet. Location: Tallan Cellar Restaurant, 200 West ML King Blvd, Chattanooga, TN 37402.
FUTURE MEETINGS
February 4, 2008 – “Changes and Opportunities in Chinese Higher Education in the Modern Era – Notes from My Luggage”. Dr Ignatius Fomunung is Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at UTC. He has recently visited China for talks about collaborating with engineering educators at the university where he earned one of his engineering degrees. He will be sharing his China experiences with the Club.
LAST MEETING
January 14, 2008 - Dale Bradshaw, President of Electrivation, spoke on "Use of ZnBr batteries for substation and communication node backup". There is no toxicity related to ZnBr batteries. Dale believes this technology is the best solution for large-scale battery backup.
