February 4, 2008 - Dr Ignatius Fomunung, Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at UTC, will speak on "Changes and Opportunities in Chinese Higher Education in the Modern Era – Notes from My Luggage".  Dr. Fomunung recently visited China for talks about collaborating with engineering educators at the university where he earned one of his engineering degrees.  He will be sharing his China experiences with the Club.

January 28, 2008 - Dean McGrew, Vice President of Business Development for Azure Dynamics, discussed Azure's alternative transportation solutions, with a focus on the company's hybrid electric powertrain technology for medium-duty commercial vehicles.  These vehicles offer reduced emissions (40 tons less CO for the life of the product), improved efficiency (46%) and less maintenance.  After the presentation, a hybrid shuttle bus was demonstrated to the club.

Seminar Presentation: "Water decontamination using heterogeneous photocatalysis".   Seminar Presented by Dr. Benito Serrano.  Date & Time:  Thursday, 14 February, 1:30 pm.  Place: Maytag Conference Room, 4th Floor, Engineering, UTC.  Dr. Benito Serrano is a professor of engineering at Universidad Autonoma de Zacatecas Mexico.  He will make a presentation about his research in water decontamination and will discuss the resulting environmental problems in Mexic o.  For more information, contact Dr. Jim Henry, jim-henry@utc.edu 425-4398.
