March 3, 2008 - Dr. Mounir Minkara, Water Quality Manager, Chattanooga Dept. of Public Works, will speak on "Water Quality and the Chattanooga Water System".
LAST MEETING
February 4, 2008 - Dr Ignatius Fomunung, Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at UTC, spoke on "Changes and Opportunities in Chinese Higher Education in the Modern Era – Notes from My Luggage". Dr. Fomunung recently visited China for talks about collabortating with engineering educators at the university where he earned one of his engineering degrees. He spoke of historical background and the interruption of China's higher education system through war followed by the Soviet model and the current resolve to build a world-class university system. Gaps in education and "brain drain" are among China's challenges. There are, however, opportunities in the future through internationalization - partnership with other countries.

2. Seminar Presentation: "Water decontamination using heterogeneous photocatalysis". Seminar Presented by Dr. Benito Serrano Date & Time: Thursday, 14 February, 1:30 pm. Place: Maytag Conference Room, 4th Floor, Engineering, UTC. Dr. Benito Serrano is a professor of engineering at Universidad Autonoma de Zacatecas Mexico. He will make a presentation about his research in water decontamination and will discuss the resulting environmental problems in Mexico.
