April 28, 2008, Noon - The Spirit of Innovation lives on! Several of the 2008 Kruesi Award Finalists, including Douglas Dodd of EnWaste Recovery Systems,  Bob Pap from Accurate Automation Corp and Brent Boxall of TR Automation will give presentations.  EnWaste Recovery Systems has created a patented filtration system to address the healthcare industry's need to recover silver and other heavy metals from the photo-chemical process in radiology departments.  Accurate Automation Corp.& amp; nbsp; designs and implements Sentinel, an unmanned ocean racer equipped with artificial intelligence that protects water-based assets such as ships and oil-drilling platforms.  TR Automation has developed a revolutionary approach to robotic work station manufacturing, called SuperCell, which allows for greater productivity.  We will see a video of the SuperCell running using RobotStudio.

FUTURE MEETINGS

May 5, 2008 - Alan Field of SURFN Development Corp. will make a presentation on the three generations of the computer technology industry, which are (a) where we were, (b) where we are, and (c) where we are going.  The new generation will be here faster than you think and it is so great! 'We are closing the windows and opening the doors.' 

 

LAST MEETING

April 21, 2008 - Capstone Design presentations were made by UTC student teams, including a child's walker made from a Power Ranger truck (Assistive Technology project), a canoe that floats (Concrete Canoe, Stuart Rymer), a steel bridge assembled in a little over 3 minutes (Steel Bridge, Seth Campbell) and a car that goes on the water (almost) as well as on land (Mini Baja car, Michael Blessing).  Demonstrations were made at the Engineers Club meeting and at Miller Plaza


ITEMS OF INTEREST 

Seven Chattanooga-area companies have been selected as Kruesi Award finalists.  The award recipient as well as the other finalists were recognized at the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce Spirit of Innovation Awards Luncheon on April 16.  The finalists were: Accurate Automation Corporation, Andersen Flaps, Inc., Astec Industries, Inc., Cleveland Tubing, Inc., EnWaste Recovery Systems, Transcard and TR Automation.
