May 21, 2008 – Wednesday – EPB, 7th Floor Auditorium, 11:30-1:00There will be a Joint meeting with the Chattanooga Technology Council (CTC).  We will have presentations f rom 2008 Early Innovator Award finalists.  The four finalists will describe their successful inventions. The award contest was sponsored by the Chattanooga Technology Council and the award is one of three that were presented at the annual Spirit of Innovation Event in April.  Now in its fourth year, the Early Innovator Award honors emerging technology-based companies that have produced a groundbreaking prototype product or beta-stage software application with potential for a significant competitive advantage.

 

The four finalists for the 2008 Early Innovator Awards were the Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority, Cushion by Design, Inc., NanoChromatic, Inc. and UtiliFlex.  During the April Spirit of Innovation Event, Cushion by Design was named the winner and this Award.  See  http://www.chatc.org

NOTE – There will be no Monday meeting on May 19 at the Cellar due to the Joint Meeting with the CTC on May 21.

June 9, 2008 – Don Thomas will be speaking on “Synthetic Liquid Fuel from Coal”.

  

LAST MEETING

May 12, 2008, Noon - The final 2008 Capstone Design presentation was capably made by senior Chemical Engineering UTC student Josh Oliver.  Josh is also an employee of UTC, working with the Facilities Planning and Management Dept.  This senior project team project involved the conversion of waste paper to ethanol, hence the term PAPERNOL - http://che m.engr.utc.edu/ench430/2008/Teams/100/  .
