Join the UT Chattanooga Center for Energy, Transportation,
and the Environment to see hydrogen-powered vehicles from leading
automotive companies. Learn about hydrogen as a transportation
fuel and talk to the people who are working on the vehicles and
fuel of the future. Test drive hydrogen-powered vehicles from
leading automotive companies, including Volkswagen.
This event is part of a 31-stop, 18-day Hydrogen Road Tour
that will cross the U.S. from Maine to California, reinforcing
the message that passenger vehicles and transit buses powered by
hydrogen help promote America’s energy independence, reduce
greenhouse gas emissions, and improve air quality while
preserving safety and U.S. jobs. For more information on the

Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA) Deputy
Administrator Cheryl L. McQueary.
At Noon, the Chattanooga Engineers’
Club has invited John Tillman, program manager, U.S. Advanced
Powertrain Research Program, Volkswagen Group of America to
describe Volkswagen’s Hydrogen Fuel Cell concept vehicle,
the HyMotion Tiguan. Box lunches will be available at a cost of
$10.

FUTURE MEETINGS
Aug. 25 - Sam Powell will speak on "The Ravages of Rock Mining".
This CEC meeting will be the final meeting at the Tallan Cellar
Restaurant. Their lease will not be renewed. A permanent new
location is being sought. Several
volunteers are needed after this meeting to help move CEC
equipment to take to storage.
Sept. 1 - No Meeting - Labor Day.
Sept. 22 - TVA will provide a speaker (arranged by John
Richardson) on Advanced Low Temperature Power Cycle
(ALTPC). Industrial waste heat can be cost effectively converted
to power using a new TVA patented process called Advanced Low
Temperature Power Cycle technology (ALTPC). TVA has executed a
license agreement with Facilities Management Company, Inc. (FMC)
to build, own, operate and market ALTPC.
Sept. 29 - Dr. Hinsdale Bernard, UTC, will speak on his
invention, the 3-D Periodic Table.
LAST MEETING
August 11 – Approximately 50 members and guests met at the
SimCenter Auditorium to hear Mark Schwartz, Founder &
Principal Architect of MFS3 Designs, P.C. and greenMARK
COLLABORATIVE-A Sustainable Design/Build/Operate, and Rod
Thompson, TV Pilot producer of Electric Farmer showcasing their
demo on wind "Prairie Wind" & and BioMass/BioFuels "Tennessee
Treasures". This program will be shown on the Discovery Channel
in the fall. The following is an excerpt from the Electric
Farmer web page: "We have to unite the country to solve the
energy crisis...Americans are rolling up their sleeves and
building new fuel systems alongside of a revitalized power
grid... the Electric Farmer television series is dedicated to
getting the word out quickly...so that the changes can happen
quickly...He's on a mission: To popularize the idea that
the
American farmer can solve the energy crisis and make a pile
of money by tapping into solar, wind and geothermal
technologies." A small farmer can now make a living off of the
