FUTURE MEETINGS
Dec. 15 - Extending the smart-grid: benefits of electric sub-metering for large commercial users. Joe Gordon of UtiliFlex will speak on the concept of how large commercial and industrial customers can use sub-metering to better manage cost, power quality, and conserve energy.

Professional Development Hours (PDH) are available for most meetings.

LAST MEETING
Dec. 1 - "Greening Your Home and Business" - The presentation by Allan Gentry explored practical approaches as well as new and existing technologies and materials to improve the energy performance of a home or business to reduce utility bills and overall energy consumption.  Practical solutions to improve energy performance include Low e glass, fixing leaking ducts, compact fluorescent bulbs, extra insulation, filling spaces around light swithches, etc.  These modifications usually pay for themselves, possibly even resulting in a reduction in energy consumption as much as 50%.  Allan is Department Chair and Interim Dean of the Technology Department and teaches green construction and industrial technology classes as well as other energy efficient construction programs at Cleveland State Community College.

ITEMS OF INTEREST

From time to time we receive requests from professional recruiters.  We do not investigate these requests, but will forward them if there is interest.  A company in the north Georgia area is looking for a Structural Engineer.   They are looking for someone that has a BA/BS degree, preferably in Civil, Structural, or Construction Management, a PE (Professional Engineer) Certification, and work experience which includes building construction.  Any knowledge of concrete, structures and roofing systems would be a plus.  If you would like more details, contact Jim Schwall (see below).
The regular meeting location of the CEC is the Chattanooga Convention Center, 1 Carter Plaza. http://www.chattconvention.org/specifications.htm
