NEXT MEETING___________________________

Monday, Feb. 9, 2009 – Noon – Chattanooga Convention Center

“Can Technology Leadership be Divorced from Ethics?” – Dr. Prem Chopra will present four principles of purposeful action from his latest book:  Masters of the Game.  These Principles seamlessly integrate ethics with management and leadership.  The call for leadership to be married to ethics is more and more obvious as we face global crises including war, widespread poverty, and environmental overload.  Dr. Chopra authored a book that would serve as a guideline for ethical business practices in an increasingly complex world.  Dr. Chopra’s message for aspiring managers and leaders could not have come at a better time.

Dr. Prem Chopra is Professor of Engineering Management and CEO of Integrated Voice Solutions, Inc., a healthcare software company with clients throughout the United States and in Europe. A renowned international speaker and author, Dr. Chopra teaches Leadership and Ethics in the Engineering Management Program at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga

PREVIOUS MEETING_______________________

Feb. 2 – Adrianne Royer, Director of Development and Communications for Girls Inc. of Chattanooga defined social media as electronic or web-based media that is interactive, changes in real time and can be used by multiple people across many different devices.

New research suggests President Barack Obama’s use of social media helped put him in the White House.  Royer discussed how Obama used the Internet and successfully built an online community that reached out to voters with social networking sites such as Facebook and YouTube.  Pew Research reports 59 percent of all voters took part in some kind of campaign activity online.  Obama raised $500,000,000 online.

“Obama empowered his people to take ownership of his campaign.  They part of a movement rather than an electorial race or ‘boots on the ground’ as my collegues in Washington called them.  And McCain ran a very militaristic campaign,” Royer told the audience.
