Monday, November 30 – 11:45 am – 1:00 pm – PLANT TOUR: ROADTEC (800 Manufactures Road, Chattanooga, TN)

Roadtec, a Chattanooga-based company, manufactures a complete line of asphalt paving machines, cold planing and recycling equipment, and material transfer vehicles.  Roadtec machines are used by contractors all over the world to build new roads and to repave existing roads.

Steve Hauke, Manager of Purchasing and Materials, and Nolan Smith, Inventory Analyst will lead a tour of Roadtec’s facility, including the manufacture of Road Paving and Milling equipment.

Lunch will not be provided.

Directions:  Driving north on Highway 27, take Manufacturers Road exit.  At the bottom of ramp, turn left.  Roadtec is located about 0.5 miles from the exit, on the left at 800 Manufacturers Road.  Turn left at the intersection of Hamm Road and Manufactures Road.  Drive to the Roadtec guard shack at the entrance to the large parking lot.  Park close to the guard shack and assemble near the large bay door labeled “Buggy Cell.”  Safety glasses will be provided.

PREVIOUS MEETING_______________________

Henry Schulson, Executive Director of the Creative Discovery Museum, and Sue Kral, the School Outreach Coordinator, discussed the programs provided by the Museum, and included a few hands-on learning activities to illustrate their approach.  Henry and Sue have developed one-hour outreach activity modules for area schools. These modules, designed to be exciting for children, conform to the national and state approved science, health, math and art curriculum. The outreach program has reached 26,000 students in the previous year, including students from Hamilton and neighboring counties in Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama

The Chattanooga Engineer's Club meets at the DOUBLETREE HOTEL, CHATTANOOGA, Inspiration Room (407 Chestnut St., Chattanooga, TN 37402). Free parking is available in the gated parking lot on the south side of the Hotel. The gate will be open from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Plan to arrive at about 11:30 a.m., if you intend to park in the limited space available. No additional parking is available in the pit east of the Hotel on Chestnut Street.
