NEXT MEETING____________________________

Monday, January 11 – Noon – DOUBLETREE HOTEL, Inspiration Room (407 Chestnut Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402)

“Renewable Energy Solutions for the Future” - Dr. Sam Weaver

Dr. Sam Weaver will discuss the enormity of the world’s energy problem.  He will describe approaches to the problem being developed by two of his companies.  With Proton Power, Inc. he is developing a process for converting biomass to a hydrogen-rich fuel.  With Cool Energy, Inc. he has developed technology for harnessing solar thermal energy (or waste heat) using Stirling engines and other technologies.

Dr. Weaver notes that with every problem there lies an opportunity, and fulfilling the future energy demand is probably the largest business opportunity in history.

Dr. Weaver holds a PhD in Metallurgical Engineering from UT.  Early in his career, he did materials research at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Since 1970, he has been involved in the start up of at least 10 high-tech companies. His first companies tackled problems in nuclear engineering.  Later companies dealt with advanced materials for aerospace, computer and military applications. In the last few years, he has focused on renewable energy technologies.
