Monday, March 15 — Noon — “High Speed Rail”
Speaker: Joe Ferguson, Director of Special Projects, Chattanooga Enterprise Center.

 

Using both power point and video, Mr. Ferguson will present the proposed Atlanta - Chattanooga - Nashville High Speed Ground Transportation project, including its general scope and where we are in the overall process.  He will also illustrate how advanced other countries are in developing true super speed rail (180 mph+) and the advantages of initiating similar projects in this country.

 

In addition to his work with the Chattanooga Enterprise Center, Joe serves on numerous boards and is Chairman of the Electric Power Board.

“Solar 101”
Gil Melear-Hough, Director of Renewable Energy, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy

 

Mr. Hough discussed the basic solar technologies that are available for home installation such as solar photovoltaics and solar hot water.  He emphasized that the logical first steps should be to reduce your homes energy consumption through insulation and weather-stripping. He reviewed basic incentives and financing options, as well as best practices for hiring qualified installers.  He also gave a real world example showing the cost of a solar installation.

The Chattanooga Engineer's Club meets at the DOUBLETREE HOTEL, CHATTANOOGA,
407 Chestnut St., Chattanooga, TN 37402.  Free parking is available in the gated parking lot on the south side of the Hotel.

 

For noontime meetings, the gate will be open from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Plan to arrive at about 11:30 a.m., if you intend to park in the limited space available.
