NEXT MEETING ____________________

Monday May 24 – “Carbon Utilization Technologies, an Alternative to Carbon
Sequestration”

Dale Bradshaw will discuss new and novel options for removing and utilizing CO2 from fossil-fueled power plants.  He will show how High-Temperature Co-Electrolysis (HTCE) could economically convert CO2 and high temperature steam into liquid fuels, chemicals, and oxygen.  In addition, he will give a quick introduction to the potential of using algae to capture CO2. These are possible options for using CO2 rather than having to geologically sequester it.

Dale Bradshaw is currently a Senior Program Manager and Consultant with NRECA’s Cooperative Research Network.  In 2004 he retired from TVA as a Senior Program Manager of R&D, after 29 years of service.

PREVIOUS MEETING____________________________

Monday May 17 – Ron Patch, founder of Electronic Controls, Inc described his patent-pending “Enerfit” technology for retrofitting inefficient commercial air conditioning units to save energy, reduce relative humidity, control indoor air quality, and extend the life of the unit.  Several systems have been installed in Chattanooga and are being tested locally prior to full commercialization.  Field tests are yielding total unit energy savings ranging from 40 percent to 70 percent.  Parameters of one system were manipulated live, via the internet, to illustrate these savings.
