Originally a committee of the Chattanooga Engineers Club, the Chattanooga Technology Council was formed as a committee to assist in local and state efforts for technology development.

Recently a new organization has been formed using the same name. This new organization is a "members-only" organization, for the benefit of member organizations.

The Chattanooga Technology Council, to avoid confusion, will be renamed "Chattanooga Technology Development Committee (of the Chattanooga Engineers Club)". The efforts of the CEC, always open to the public, have been renamed the "Chattanooga Technology Directory" and the "Chattanooga Technology Organization" and returned to the site provided by Chattanooga Online, a leading local ISP.

While the CEC supports the new organization, the creation of a "NEW CTC" does not eliminate the need for an open listing of technology firms and the stimulation of "local" business transactions or the coordination of the local technology organizations.
